I am the first and only photographer in Puglia specialized in Documentary Family Photography.

I'm based in Salento, (Puglia, Italy) but my suitcase is always ready for a trip. I love my job because it allows me to travel and tell stories of families all around the world.

CREATING MEMORIES IS A MISSION FOR ME

Martina De Pascali Photography Documentary Family Photographer

Because of my personal experience, not having memories of my childhood and my family has been meaning a lot to me. I know the number of questions and sufferings that can develop from an identity gap.
-In this video I'll tell you my story-

This is the reason why I chose to specialize in Documentary Family Photography:

TO HELP CHILDREN AND FAMILIES TO CREATE THEIR MEMORIES.

Creating and telling real and authentic stories which will include the essence and beauty of everyday life. Little things that are often underestimated but in reality are the most precious thing we have indeed.

I DON'T TAKE PICTURES FOR TODAY, I DO IT FOR TOMORROW.

I give you the chance to feel moved by those images that talk about you.

- Yes, even in the future when your children will be at university or somewhere else in the world ;) -

More about meโ€ฆ

I NEVER LIKED GIVING MYSELF A DEFINITION, BUT IN TIME I LEARNED TO TELL ABOUT MYSELF.

Labels have always made me feel uncomfortable. As Iโ€™ve been through different phases in my life, I learned change is necessary to keep evolving.

An only word wouldn't be enough to describe who I am,
as there are so many aspects within me.

My name is Martina, but everyone calls me Marty. Just a few people use my full name: granma, everyone who knows me little, and my husband when I get him nervous.

I was born in a small town in Apulia, Italy, on the 19th March 1992. I was lucky enough to grow up in Otranto, surrounded by Mediterranean atmospheres, arts, history and a breathtaking sea.

I have never been one of those girls knowing exactly what they wanted to do with their lives.

If anyone would have asked: โ€œWhat do want to do when you grow up?โ€ I probably would have answered: โ€œI have no ideaโ€..

I was certain of one and only thing:

I was a creative soul.

WHY PHOTOGRAPHY?

Paris, 2019

I was about 10 years old when my teacher at school brought my class to the countryside to see the typical maquis shrubland.
I carried my little Samsung Fino 700S photo camera with me. It was golden, a brand new present Iโ€™d asked my family, together with a video camera.
During our visit, I shot a whole film roll - of just plants! โ€œHow about your peers?โ€ asked my mum, looking at my freshly printed pictures. โ€œUh, yes, they came, tooโ€, I replied, smiling.

As a teenager, with my group of friends, I was always the one carrying her compact camera to shoot the funniest pictures, my buddiesโ€™ portraits, images of our long days spent together and all the good things we experienced as a group.

Photography has always been a passion I cultivated with spontaneity. Until 2009, when I met Mirko, now my husband. With him, I discovered professional wedding photography. Getting into his world coincided for me with a period of a deep education in photographic technique and experimentation.

Then, a particularly difficult moment occurred in my life. And I realized shooting pictures was the only thing that made me feel good.

I stopped overthinking, I entered the creative flow and let myself
be guided by what I saw and felt.

It was some sort of meditation in movement.
I was completely myself. Everything else was disappearing.

So I decided images would have been my way of expressing myself.
